Just a mile or so from the mouth of the Mersey, you'll find broad, open, sandy beaches. This outer area of the Estuary forms part of the Sefton coast, one of the largest and most spectacular sand dune systems in the country, supporting a vast range of plants and animals and recognised as an internationally important habitat area.
